Leadership

Mentor, Ram Leadership Team

August 2005-May 2008

After participating in Ram Leadership Team as a freshman, I returned to mentor four students over the next three years. I spoke to them about their goals for their college experience, and did my best to connect them to organizations and people who could help them along their journey.

Capstone Student, President’s Leadership Program

August 2006-May 2007

As a member of PLP, I was introduced to the latest in leadership, management and diversity theory, and introduced to movers and shakers from throughout Colorado. I made some great friends, and had the opportunity to give back to the Fort Collins community.

Campaign Manager, Katie & Trevor 2007

August 2006-April 2007

Strategy with Katie and Dan

My friends Katie Gleeson and Trevor Trout asked me to run their campaign for student government, and we put together one of the strongest campaigns in years. Up against a well-known columnist from the student paper, we mounted a polished, but grassroots campaign that earned us a 600 vote victory over our competition.

Associate Director, RamRide

May 2006-April 2007

Team RamRide

I first joined RamRide as a volunteer, and in 2005-06 I was recognized as the organization’s “Most Dedicated Volunteer.” As an Associate Director, I coordinated teams of up to 40 volunteers to drive home up to 350 CSU students during 30 different nights. During the latter part of my term, I streamlined the group volunteer sign-up and training process, dramatically increasing participation.

Liberal Arts Senator, ASCSU Senate

May 2005-May 2006

ASCSU SenateDuring my time in the ASCSU Senate I authored multiple pieces of legislation concerning things like student rights, University budgeting procedures and campus safety. As well, I chaired the body’s Academics Committee, working with five other members to review other relevant legislation.

Co-Campaign Manager, Jason & Sadie 2006

March 2006-April 2006

Over the course of just two weeks, a couple friends and I put together a successful campaign for student body president. Facing a ticket that had been recruiting supporters for over six months, we nevertheless managed to win in comfortable fashion. Our deliberately-built coalition and then-uncommon commitment to Facebook helped secure our victory.

Mentee, Ram Leadership Team

August 2004-May 2005

Ram Leadership Team

I was one of 30 CSU freshmen chosen to join Ram Leadership Team, a highly-selective leadership development program run by the Associated Students of CSU. There were remarkably few Kumbaya are-you-kidding-me moments, and frankly, the program was a great introduction to campus life. I made a bunch of friends that I still have to this day, learned about  the ins-and-outs of campus involvement, and had the chance to run the Colorado High School Leadership Conference.
