Do the Simple Things

We do our best to match our vehicles and ride sizes. For smaller trips, we use a hybrid Toyota Prius. For larger groups, we use a minivan or a passenger van. This has a positive impact on fuel consumption, congestion, highway safety and our carbon footprint. Bringing even two parties back to Fort Collins together cuts the trip’s carbon footprint in half. As the business grows and larger buses are placed in service we will continue to improve the carbon footprint of transportation to Denver International Airport.

Moving Toward CNG

Our first choice for vehicle fueling is compressed natural gas (CNG). CNG is clean, abundant and cost-effective. There are public CNG filling stations in Cheyenne, Denver and at Denver International Airport, but none currently on the North Front Range. We are considering bi-fuel vehicles, but given that CNG vehicles have limited range we may need to operate part of every round trip on regular gasoline. We, along with Clean Energy, the City of Fort Collins and other organizations will be working toward creating the critical mass needed to install a public CNG filling station in Fort Collins.

Technology

We will be using GPS, reservation, and dispatching technology to efficiently route vehicles. Our employee driver model will provide superior service without the concern about who is next in line to pick up a passenger. That means that the number of miles traveled without a passenger on board is significantly lower that the typical shuttle service. The result is less fuel consumed, less wear and tear on vehicles and tires, better customer service, lower cost of operation, and lower customer cost.

Work at Home

Greenride’s reservation agents work from home. We can offer people who have to stay at home, have excellent customer services skills and the available technology a home-based job. What does that mean to the carbon footprint? Our team doesn’t have to drive to work and we don’t need a big office building that has to be heated and cooled.

Employee Ownership

Greenride employees own 25 percent of our company. This is not only the right thing to do, but an important part of developing the sense of community that is so valuable to the company.

Culture of Volunteerism

Greenride strongly encourages its employees to volunteer in locally. In fact, we pay employees to take off two days a year to serve the North Colorado community.

Shop Local

There is a lot to be gained from creating a sustainable, environmentally friendly, locally-based organization. We have an incredible opportunity to do something really good for regional transportation, for public service and for the environment.

Community Involvement

Greenride is involved throughout the North Front Range community. We’re a member of ClimateWise Fort Collins, the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce, and other groups. We’ve sponsored events such as the Fort Collins Marathon and the Sustainable Living Fair’s Blue and Green Ball.
